Google has changed dramatically since the “beta” version was launched back in January 1996. And many of the best practices for optimizing your website content have changed significantly, too. So, how do you optimize your website content for Google visibility and traffic today?

1. Conduct Keyword Research to Find Search Terms People Are Likely to Use

Well, the first step in Google News optimization is conducting keyword research to find 85% of the news search terms that people are likely to use. How do you do that?

2. Write a Clear, Concise Headline

Despite getting revamped, Google News continues to rely heavily on page titles to determine ranking.

3. Use Subheads & Text Formatting for Emphasis

What about subheads? Well, they’re a good place to incorporate additional keywords that aren’t in your headline.

They also provide early supplemental guidance to readers as they decide whether to continue reading longer news content.

4. Question the Conventional Wisdom That Says: Keep It Short

Now, I’m often asked, “How long should optimized news content be?”

But, there is no simple formula for calculating how long your article or release should be in order to be optimized for Google News.

But, it’s time to question the conventional wisdom that says: Keep it short.

5. Include Photos & Videos

Although rich textual content is important, so are photos and videos.

Google News displays images associated with articles included in its index, although it sometimes pairs relevant images with articles from different sources.

6. Add Meaningful Links

It’s okay to use links in your story or release to direct your audiences to relevant additional content.

This includes:

  • Sidebars and photo galleries for readers.
  • Campaign-specific landing pages and product purchase pages for customers.

I should remind you that Google is constantly changing. This year Google updated algorithms 3,200 times.

So, I should probably add a “Best if used by (or before)” date to some of the tips in this article.

Google continues to make changes, you should continue to invest in improving your web site, do not let your website sit idle.

Why should you care?  If anything is true in SEO (Search Engine Optimization), it is that we can always expect change. Google has made many changes to its algorithms over the years and continues to release algorithmic updates to improve usability and improve relevancy. You cannot just sit idle and expect rankings today will be the same tomorrow. As Google continues to make changes, your web site must continue to improve to gain and maintain rankings in Google search.

Google made over 3,200 changes to its search system last year alone. Google wrote, “Our search algorithms are complex math equations that rely on hundreds of variables, and last year alone, we made more than 3,200 changes to our search systems.”

3,200 changes! Yes, Google has for a while said it makes, on average, several changes to search per day, and 3,200 changes per year would be about several per day. So what have you done today to increase your visibility online?

Today a solid digital marketing strategy has become the new bread and butter of day to day business.  Your business’s success depends on the right type of digital strategy, and the right type of strategy can in turn lead to higher sales, new customers, and long-term growth.

Here are 4 tips to optimize your digital marketing strategy.

1. Prioritize customer needs over bells and whistles.

While your team is consumed with building your web presence and developing your product or service, it’s easy to lose sight of the customer you want to target. Look at how you can make improvements in user experience these improvements will increase conversion rates, and retargeting can pay huge dividends — tighten up the mousetrap first, then boost your efforts by complementing with a targeted adwords campaign. You’ll acquire and retain customers more cost-efficiently and save money for higher-risk marketing strategies.

2. Audit and update your SEO more often

You may know your product or service is great, but is it reaching all the people it could be? Search engine optimization can significantly help your brand reach the people who want what you’re offering. Industry experts recommend updating your SEO once a quarter; after all, Google updates its algorithm more than 500 times a year. Find the keywords that are making your business gain or lose traction in the search engine cycle in order to make your brand as discoverable and searchable as possible.

3. Make your marketing MOBILE

Even if a desktop version of your website looks great, be sure to check that it translates across devices. Consumers expect cohesion across platforms, and the better accessibility you provide your audience, the more likely those users are going to purchase.

Remember that authenticity reigns supreme in any of these strategies. Once you have that, an online presence allows you to connect with your audience in ways previously unknown and build a brand that they’ll continuously want to engage with.

4. Blogging as a lead generation tool

Speaking of SEO: Posting new relevant and valuable content will drives traffic to your website, while also increasing your ranking in search engines. In fact, marketers who blog are 13 times more likely to experience positive return on investment, and companies that blog generate 67 percent more leads than those who don’t.

Each post you create is one more webpage indexed on your website, making it more likely customers will find you when searching online. It also indicates to the search engines that your website is generating new content, which will help your content move to the top of search engine results. Further, blogging gives your brand a voice, and 91 percent of clients say they are more likely to purchase from a brand that is authentic rather than generic.

From its earliest days, Google’s core search algorithm offered the most relevant and most organic search results quickly and accurately on a simple site with an iconic logo that has now become synonymous with the search giant’s business. Searching amidst the world’s vast data, Google cleverly cataloged and categorized pages using its PageRank formula, which assessed the quantity and power of links to any given webpage.

In order to remain dominant in the search world, Google introduced several now-infamous adjustments to its algorithm that went by the names of Panda, Penguin and Hummingbird, just to name a few. As the less-than-savory characters began dominating Google’s search by supposedly gaming the system, Google had to act or risk losing its relevancy. These algorithm adjustments were intended to both weed out the spoofs and scammers, while also fine-tuning its semantic search.  Read More Dominate Google Search 2017>
