In order to remain dominant in the search world, Google introduced several now-infamous adjustments to its algorithm that went by the names of Panda, Penguin and Hummingbird, just to name a few. As the less-than-savory characters began dominating Google’s search by supposedly gaming the system, Google had to act or risk losing its relevancy. If your site isn’t easy to use on mobile, Google penalizes it by ranking it lower on its mobile search results pages.   To give publishers even more of an incentive to offer mobile-friendly pages, Google today announced that, in May, it will increase the importance of having a mobile page, and sites that are not mobile-friendly will rank even lower than before.

As we all wait for the next Google Penguin update, which should be named Penguin 4.0 and should be officially announced by Google – we may not experience a new one after this next version.
