No matter which industry you’re in, keeping in touch with your clients is crucial in the execution of a successful digital marketing strategy. But even those with the best of intentions can sometimes come off a bit scary thanks to a few common marketing pitfalls.

Which monster most resembles your marketing strategy style.

GHOST

Are you haunting your clients with too many emails, phone calls or letters? We understand the impulse — after all, staying in touch with your clients after a completed transaction will keep you from blindsiding them with communication when you’re ready to ask for their business or for referrals. However, we’ve all hit the unsubscribe button when a company sends us too many emails.

Don’t get GHOSTED.

VAMPIRE

Hey there, bloodsucker. While your intentions may be in the right place, if you’re reaching out to your clients with only information about you or your company, you’re probably sending the wrong message.

Wake up vampire its not all about you.

MUMMY

Are you still sending snail mail? If so you might be wrapped up in old-school marketing way of thinking. Do you know how many of those letters are going directly into the recycling bin without being opened?

Things like snail mail, fax and ads in yellow pages are mummified, not because they’re uncool, but because there’s no way to track your return on investment.

STOP the madness Mummy.

ZOMBIE

If you’re not doing anything at all to stay in touch with your clients, consider yourself a marketing zombie.

You might be extra busy, you might think, “I have all the business I need,” or you might not want to “annoy” your clients. The fact is this: if you’re not keeping your name in front of your clients.

You’re NOT a ZOMBIE right?

WEREWOLF

It must be a full moon, because that’s the only time your clients hear from you. If you’re only contacting your client when it’s time for them to renew their policy, upgrade their plumbing, refinance their home, etc., then you are a werewolf.

Your Customers Aren’t Werewolves; Stop Looking for a Marketing Silver Bullet

Bringing your monstrous marketing habits under control might take some effort, but your clients and your bottom line will thank you. Now that you’re on your way back to humanity, go forth and terrorize the neighborhood no more! (And have a few pieces of candy. You’ve earned it.)

WordPress is one of the easiest and most robust ways to share your business on the web. WordPress, a content management system (CMS), is the ideal tool for entrepreneurs and companies to showcase their products and services, help their search engine ranking, and market themselves to prospective customers. It helps you share your story with the world, sell products and services in an electronic storefront, or even just share photos and videos of your work.

There are simpler platforms, but most don’t offer the functionality that WordPress does. And there are a few platforms that are equally robust, but they’re difficult to use.

Benefits of WordPress?

  1. WordPress is used by 59.5% of all the websites that use a content management system (CMS).
  2. WordPress is simple to use.
  3. WordPress is flexible enough to accommodate all needs through its extensions and plugins
  4. Adding website content is fast and simple.Another reason people love to use WordPress is because of its simplicity. The CMS is as user-friendly as it gets, and very easy for newbies to learn. Not only that, the platform is very intuitive.
  5. Its search engine friendly. Popular search engines, like Google and Bing, tend to rank websites that use WordPress higher than those that don’t. This is because the CMS’ framework makes it easy for the search engines’ spiders to crawl.
  6. Its secure and safe. Another reason why WordPress is so beloved is the security measures the developers take to preserve the trust of its users.
  7. WordPress keeps improving. Thanks to its open source coding and innovative developers, WordPress keeps improving as the years go by.
  8. You can make your WordPress theme look any way you want with a customized theme.  (This is our specialty)
  9. WordPress powers some of the world’s most well-known brands with millions of pageviews per day, for example Mashable, Nasa, Mozilla, Coca Cola, Wall Street Journal and many more.
  10. Multi-Media Support. WordPress lets you easily integrate video either by uploading your own, or by adding embeddable code through the HTML areas.
  11. Integration. WordPress integrates with many popular 3rd-party platforms to make your website more modern. There are plenty of plugins that let you easily send out email campaigns and newsletters.
  12. WordPress is integrated with an automatic updater for security purposes. The CMS also notifies you when new updates are available for plug-ins.
  13. Social Media Integration. People can easily post comments on your site using their own social network accounts
  14. Numerous E-Commerce Solutions.
  15. Schedule Posts. WordPress makes it easy for you schedule the things you publish
  16. Multi-User Capability. In case you are not the only individual running your website, WordPress makes it simple to assign different access roles for different people

Your website is the first impression you make on a user and the last you leave. It will either provide an enjoyable experience or a frustrating one. It has the power to either engage your customers or deter them, inviting them to make an interatction or encouraging them to seek out a competitor instead.

When it’s so easy to lose a customer and yet so complex to keep one until the end, it’s important to remember six factors that matter most in their online buying process:

  1. Neglecting Mobile
  2. Annoying Advertising
  3. Buggy Design
  4. Confused Customer
  5. Frustrating Functionality

As soon as someone lands on your site, the clock is ticking. Every step in their journey will either take them closer to check out or to the exit button.

By paying closer attention to the flow of your website, prioritizing usability for important functions, and testing areas that are proven to impact customers, you’ll start seeing less abandoned shopping carts and more satisfied customers.

Putting yourself in the shoes of your website visitors ensures that your website gives your target audience exactly what they want. While it’s a simple task to figure out basics about your typical site visitor, it isn’t always as easy to figure out what each individual user wants from your site.

Here are are some key elements you can utilize:

  1. Excellent Navigation
  2. Roadmap thru the website or breadcrumb trail
  3. Clear Benefits to working with you vs. competition
  4. Faster Load Time
  5. Complete Contact Information
  6. Secure Website
  7. Useful Content

Figuring out what users want isn’t always easy, but it is worth the effort. What they want may change often so ask your current customers what you’re missing and continue to improve and add to your website over time. If you always seek to put the customer first, they will turn to you over your competitors.

Today a solid digital marketing strategy has become the new bread and butter of day to day business.  Your business’s success depends on the right type of digital strategy, and the right type of strategy can in turn lead to higher sales, new customers, and long-term growth.

Here are 4 tips to optimize your digital marketing strategy.

1. Prioritize customer needs over bells and whistles.

While your team is consumed with building your web presence and developing your product or service, it’s easy to lose sight of the customer you want to target. Look at how you can make improvements in user experience these improvements will increase conversion rates, and retargeting can pay huge dividends — tighten up the mousetrap first, then boost your efforts by complementing with a targeted adwords campaign. You’ll acquire and retain customers more cost-efficiently and save money for higher-risk marketing strategies.

2. Audit and update your SEO more often

You may know your product or service is great, but is it reaching all the people it could be? Search engine optimization can significantly help your brand reach the people who want what you’re offering. Industry experts recommend updating your SEO once a quarter; after all, Google updates its algorithm more than 500 times a year. Find the keywords that are making your business gain or lose traction in the search engine cycle in order to make your brand as discoverable and searchable as possible.

3. Make your marketing MOBILE

Even if a desktop version of your website looks great, be sure to check that it translates across devices. Consumers expect cohesion across platforms, and the better accessibility you provide your audience, the more likely those users are going to purchase.

Remember that authenticity reigns supreme in any of these strategies. Once you have that, an online presence allows you to connect with your audience in ways previously unknown and build a brand that they’ll continuously want to engage with.

4. Blogging as a lead generation tool

Speaking of SEO: Posting new relevant and valuable content will drives traffic to your website, while also increasing your ranking in search engines. In fact, marketers who blog are 13 times more likely to experience positive return on investment, and companies that blog generate 67 percent more leads than those who don’t.

Each post you create is one more webpage indexed on your website, making it more likely customers will find you when searching online. It also indicates to the search engines that your website is generating new content, which will help your content move to the top of search engine results. Further, blogging gives your brand a voice, and 91 percent of clients say they are more likely to purchase from a brand that is authentic rather than generic.

Google SEO 2018Wondering how you can grow your GOOGLE organic search traffic before this year comes to a close?    We’ve compiled 3 ways to help you achieve that goal before year end.

1. Do a Website Content Audit

Does your website copy convey the message you want your potential clients to know about your business and does it include industry terms?  Website Content/Copy audits are the single best way to expose  issues that are likely harming your SEO performance. The truth is that many websites online are littered with thin, low-quality, and even outdated content.

2. Target Low Hanging Fruits

The more targeted your content is to your potential client the more success you will have generating quality leads to your website.

One of my favorite methods for getting quick SEO wins is to target low-hanging fruits.  What does that mean?

It means that you identify pages on your site that are ranking on the second page of Google. After you identify these pages, you need to make an effort to “beef them up”. That means improving the quality of the page by either adding more words, adding video, adding audio, or improving the overall readability and design of the page.

A combination of all of these elements would produce the best results.

3. Care About Your Websites User/Technical Performance

There is a tendency in the SEO industry for people to overvalue backlinks and undervalue user experience.  We believe that if users cannot navigate thru your website with ease how do you expect the search engines to do so?  Usability plays a large role in this, with the right foundation you can generate a better return from your website.

This time of year can be overwhelming with the holiday, don’t let your momentum die keep the leads coming thru the holidays!  If you need any help implementing any of these steps please give us a call.  We can help you tackle any website SEO project.

Exceptional Web Design, Usability, and User Experience

When it comes to designing or re-designing a website, it can be easy to get hung up on the aesthetics.  However, if you’re truly trying to accomplish something with your website (e.g., brand awareness, lead generation, etc.), you’ll need to focus on more than just how your website looks.  In a world where folks have more than a billion websites they can potentially land on, you need to make sure your website’s design is optimized for usability (how easy your website is to use) and user experience (how enjoyable interacting with your website is for actual users).    See how to make your website exceptional > web design, usability, user experience

That’s right, it’s that time of year again.  Enter the panic.  So much to do so little time…

It’s funny how the end of the year has the ability to put our annual to-do list into perspective, with a spotlight on what we should do, but inevitably put off until later….next month….next year…never mind.  We’ve all been there.

Whether you’re a New Year’s resolution type person or not – we’ve all got one eye on what comes next, if your anything like me its looking for way that I can improve my business and personal life.

Keeping up with technology and expectations for our businesses online is a daunting task.  With the countless Google Updates and social media posts and articles about the next must-have for websites, one could spend all their time self-educating, and never get anything done.   And frankly, if your list looks anything like mine, you have enough to do already.

Here are 5 reasons you should invest in redeveloping your website:

  1. Your website offers a poor experience to users on the move
  2. Your visitors can’t easily find what they need or complete an action on your website.  “Contact me NOW”  “Buy Now”
  3. The content on your website isn’t communicating the right message anymore.
  4. You aren’t using video on your website (be unique and different instead of writing about your process..SHOW THEM!)
  5. You don’t have a clear ‘digital strategy’.  Your website is the centerpiece for all of your digital marketing it should be your first priority!
  6. Your website isn’t RESPONSIVE.  Responsive web design responds to the needs of the users and the hand held devices they’re using. The layout changes based on the size and capabilities of that specific device.

I believe in educating my clients and letting them know what the latest trends in technology are available and how it may or may not fit within their business growth model.   This allows you to focus on you and your daily task of running your business.

If you’re interested in updating your website give me a call today.   Lisa Brusate -248.528.3600

Google Content for SEOHow Google defines ‘Quality Content’

Google is increasing the value of ‘quality content’ when it comes to search rankings.   According to a recent *study, Google has shown positive conversion signals, such as the amount of time spent on a page, as having an increasingly significant impact on rankings.   In-depth quality content, user-experience and social shares continue to provide the best overall content for google.   Its no longer necessary to have the exact match keywords in page content, semantic search means Google understands a page topic.   Now more than ever its becoming more important to keep the reader engaged.

*Based on the latest annual search metrics study.
